Reciprocity

This is a legal agreement between two or more states that allows a teaching license to be transferred from one state to another.

EXAMPLE: You live in South Carolina and want to teach in South Carolina. You are looking at attending a master’s degree online program from a school based in Florida. The school’s teaching program meets all the requirement for Florida’s teaching license.

BEFORE STARTING THE PROGRAM you would want to make sure that Florida has “Reciprocity” with South Carolina so that you could also attain a teaching license in South Carolina.

This is a very important question to ask the university you attend if you are planning or want the option to teach in another state.
