What you NEED TO KNOW:

1. Admission Requirements:

a. High school Diploma, GED,  California High School Proficiency Exam Certificate, or Foreign Secondary High School Equivalent.

b. Currently employed, if not employed have access to an organizational environment that allows you to apply concepts you learn.

c. Be a citizen or permanent resident, or hold a approved valid visa if attending a campus location in the United States

d. Submit immunization documentation if enrolling in Oklahoma campus base program

e. Pass English proficiency test.

3. How many credits can I transfer?

Minimum- 30 credits

Maximum- 90 credits

4. Teaching License:

Arizona (AZ)

This program is based out of Arizona so after completing the course you can take this state’s licensure exam to become a licensed teacher in AZ.

All Other States

You will receive an IR (instructional recommendation) to give to your home state’s Board of Education.  This will show your home state you have completed a accredited teaching program.  You then would need to satisfy the requirements of your state, which normally is to complete and pass your states licensing test in order to receive your teaching license.  This program will meet most states licensure requirements  (**NOTE: I recommend that before starting any teaching program to check with your state’s Board of Education to ensure this program will meet your state’s standards)

5. Do I have to find and set up my own student teaching in my home state?

Each student is given a field placement specialist.  You will need to identify 3 schools where you would like to complete your student teaching and your field placement specialist will arrange this for you.

This Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary education requires completion of

120 credit hours (including general education and electives)

Student teaching is a major component to their program requiring a minimum of 100 hrs of field experience.  An adviser from the school will assist students in setting up their practicum experiences.  Also you will have a 12 week student teaching assignment. Class will have group assignments.  It is important to note that you DO NOT have to be online at the same time other group members are to complete your assignments.

This university also offers an on-line library access that you can go to any time.

Support/Education Counselor

Counselor: Each student is assigned a counselor specifically for setting up class schedules This offers much flexibility for the working individual (example if  you are planning a vacation or just need a break for a week, you only need to let your counselor know 1 week before your next round of classes begins.

You will also have a Graduation team and a finance counselor.

You will be assigned a teacher preparation counselor (someone that knows all the licensing requirement for your state and AZ, they will assure you meet all progression requirement before student teaching.
