Iowa
This program is based out of Iowa so if you live in Iowa, after completing the course you can take the Iowa licensure exam to become a licensed teacher in Iowa. (Note you must live in Iowa to be accepted into their program for licensure in this state)
All Other States
You will receive recommendation to give to your home state’s Board of Education. This will show your home state you have completed an accredited teaching program. You then would need to satisfy the requirements of your state, which normally is to complete and pass your states licensing test in order to receive your teaching license. This program will meet most states licensure requirements (**NOTE: I recommend that before starting any teaching program to check with your state’s Board of Education to ensure this program will meet your state’s standards)
They do not offer licensure programs for the following states: North Carolina, Kentucky, (New York- there is a possibility but was told by an advisor that NY is changing their state standards)
6. If my Master’s program requires student teaching do I have to find and set up my own student teaching in my home state?
NO, they do not offer a student teaching component. So it is VERY IMPORTANT you check with you State Board of Education to see if they require Student Teaching for licensure. If so, you will have to find a school and set up a student teaching experience by yourself after completion of this program. You will be assigned a faculty coach. to assist you in the process of meeting requirements for your state.
