Grand Canyon Bachelor’s Degree Education

What you NEED TO KNOW:

1. Admission Requirements:

a. High school diploma

b. Work experience is recommended

2.  How many credits can I transfer?

Maximum- 84 credits

3. Course Length

Each course is 8 weeks long

4. Teaching License/Teaching Certification:

Arizona (AZ)

This program is based out of AZ so after completing the course you can take the Arizona licensure exam to become a licensed teacher in AZ.

All Other States

You will receive an IR (instructional recommendation) to give to your home state’s Board of Education.  This will show your home state you have completed a accredited teaching program.  You then would need to satisfy the requirements of your state, which normally is to complete and pass your states licensing test in order to receive your teaching license.  This program will meet most states licensure requirements  (**NOTE: I recommend that before starting any teaching program to check with your state’s Board of Education to ensure this program will meet your state’s standards)

5. Do I have to find and set up my own student teaching in my home state?

It is recommended that you pick a school of your liking and give the information to your assigned educational counselor that will set up your teaching practicum for you.

Extras:

Grand Canyon University is a private Christian college based out of Phoenix Arizona
They will provide you with guidance and support through out the completion of your teaching program. Each student is assigned an Educational Counselor to assist in setting up class schedules as well as to answer any question you may have. Grand Canyon offers flexible teaching program in that you can start the program at the beginning of any 8 week semester.  Education courses included over 150 hrs of classroom observation  as well as a 16 week full time student teaching assignment.
